Preoperative Instructions
This appointment time is reserved specifically for you. If, by necessity, you must cancel your appointment for surgery please give this office 48 hours notice. If the office is closed, please leave a message.
WE REQUIRE THE PERSON(S) ACCOMPANYING THE PATIENT HAVING IV ANESTHESIA TO REMAIN IN THE OFFICE DURING THE PROCEDURE
Patients who will be having either a general anesthetic or intravenous sedation must have NO FOOD FOR AT LEAST EIGHT HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY. The final meal prior to surgery must be a light meal (avoid fatty or fried foods). Patients may have SMALL AMOUNTS OF WATER UP TO 2 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY.
IF YOU HAVE HAD A FEVER OR ANY FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS OR BEEN IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH SOMEONE HAS BEEN SICK IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS, WE ASK YOU TO KINDLY RESCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT.
Oral hygiene must be excellent prior to surgery. On the day of surgery, before reporting to the office, brush and rinse with mouthwash.
Please discontinue the use of tobacco for as long as possible prior to your appointment. Smoking may delay healing and create increased discomfort following surgery.
DO NOT USE recreational drugs (including marijuana) or consume alcohol 72 hours prior to surgery as it may prove fatal. Your appointment will be cancelled and you will be charged a $50.00 cancellation fee.
Please wear comfortable clothing to the office on the day of your surgery. SHORT SLEEVES and tennis shoes are advised. Please feel free to bring your headphones or iPod with headphones for the enjoyment of your own music.
All patients having intravenous sedation or general anesthesia SHOULD NOT DRIVE AN AUTOMOBILE OR OPERATE MACHINERY FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
If you were prescribed an antibiotic, pain medication or anti-nausea medication please take as directed.
We must have a signed financial agreement and assignment of insurance benefits prior to surgery.
